Mission Trips

At Words To Works Ministries, we are committed to assisting others in being obedient to the Great Commission. We not only want you to go on a mission trip, we want you to have a positive, successful trip that will light a fire for evangelism in your team. With that goal in mind, we will develop a mission trip designed around your team's size, experience, length of stay and interests, and then we will walk you through the entire process of planning and implementation.

What Areas of Ministry are available through Mission Trips?
The needs of north Jacksonville, Florida, are great, therefore we have many different areas from which you can chose:

Children

Over 60% of the people of Jacksonville, Florida live in multi-family complexes.  Their children are a primary focus of our ministry and our mission trips.  Many of these little ones are living in homes riddled with drugs, alcohol and crime, being raised by a single mother who is overwhelmed with problems of her own. What future can they expect unless we Go and show them the love of a heavenly Father? Mission groups set up day camps and block parties with Bible stories, games, crafts, inflatables, hot dogs and Kool Aid. Any mission trip can include this as a component of their outreach!

Sports Camps

A mission trip focusing in on sports?  Why not! Sports camps can be a terrific way to establish a relationship with a young person and walk them to the foot of the cross. No matter the sport, no matter the target age group, we will make all the arrangements for you to have a worthwhile experience mentoring, teaching, and evangelizing.

 

Construction

For those with an interest in construction and skilled trades, we arrange projects in our neighborhoods and with local construction ministries. Whether you want to paint, do roof repair, or put up a house, we have the need and can get you plugged in!  A mission trip with a focus on construction is one that gives you an opportunity to share the Gospel and show the love of Christ!

His Warehouse

The His Warehouse mission trip experience has been developed as a unique opportunity for those who want to focus in on the adult community.  For those with limited time or money, it can be a Friday night-only outreach or it can be included as a part of our intense Late Nights @ His Warehouse program ~ 3 mission fields in 24 hours! 

Compassion Center

If the plight of the poor tugs at your heart, then we have a pressing need for you in our Compassion Center. Located on our campus, this food and clothing pantry is open to the local community and is a personal environment in which to witness to those who are struggling in life. We will also arrange for you serve meals at the nearby community soup kitchen.  A mission trip that includes meeting the needs of the helpless will touch your heart!

Beach Ministry

Jacksonville is located right on the beach and is a terrific place to find those who seek pleasure to fill the God-size space in their heart. Whether you prefer to set up beach camps for the children staying at local hotels or want to walk the sands, allowing the Lord to lead you to those with whom He has set up divine appointments, we will get you started.  Who said a missin trip can't be fun!?!

 

Summer Intern Leadership Program

Summer internships are available for students, high school juniors and up. Learn every aspect of running a mission, develop life-long friends, and reach your potential!

Who can come on mission?

A.

Everyone! We believe that the Great Commission is a command to all therefore it is one of our goals to make obedience to this command a reality for all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. While we work closely with the Southern Baptist Convention churches, we invite all who love the Lord and want to spread His love and Good News. Denominational lines become irrelevant when our focus is on mission evangelism and God’s kingdom.

What is the cost of a mission trip?

A.

The cost of the trip depends upon the length of stay. It is our desire to make going on mission a reality for all, therefore we make our trips as affordable as possible. The Friday night His Warehouse is $10. The 24-hour mission trip, Late Nights @ His Warehouse, is $39 per person. The 3-day trip is $125. The 5-day trip is $179.  The 7-day trip is $239, but early bird registration discounts are available. Specifics concerning deposits and deadlines are provided in the financial section. If you desire, you may use Visa or MasterCard, however a 5% service charge will be added to the total. Please note that all deposits are nonrefundable and cancellations are not accepted.

What ages to you accomadate?

A.

Whatever your age, interest or skills, we have a place for you! We do not believe that mission trips should be only for our middle and high school youth. We have had the pleasure of working with groups of seniors, nurses, bikers, families, college students, and intergenerational church groups. A team from Belize came and serve, learning how we do what we do so that they could implement a similar program in their own country. A group of seniors, the youngest of whom was 65, came and fed the hungry and prepared medical package for overseas. A small church came on their first ever mission trip and brought over half their congregation, from ages 6 months to 60s. We believe that God has called all of us to Go and share the Good News, and it is our heart to enable as many who want to be obedient to this command!

Q.	How long are the mission trips?
A.	How long do you want it to be? We customize our trips for you! If you are here locally, you may want to do just an afternoon, an evening or our 24-hour Late Nights At His Warehouse. Those traveling a distance may prefer a 3-day, 5-day or 7-day trip. The 7-day trip usually has figured into it one "free" day to allow your group to enjoy the sights and beaches of our area. Again, it is up to you!

Q.	When can we come on a mission trip?
A.	When do you want to come?  We host mission groups year 'round!  Spring and summer are our busiest times.  The 24-hour trip is popular all year with local groups.  Seniors generally prefer to come in the off season when it isn't as hot ~ smart, aren't they!?!

How do we get ready for a mission trip?

A.

Whether your first or twentieth mission trip, you’ll love our step-by-step guidelines on planning a successful trip! We have a proven system that we will share with you and help you implement. It is contained in our downloadable Go Manual, a 100+ page book that will help you and your team prepare physically, financially and spiritually. We will work with your leadership to ensure that all the appropriate steps are taken for your team!
